Denotation/Connotation

Black Background: This works as a basis for your colour scheme as you can use any colours you like, without any sudden colour clashes. Also, when you have a big photo on your cover, people wouldn't want their eyes to be drawn to the background so having just one colour makes it easier to look at.

Star with Student Inside: The star is yellow which stands out with the black background leading the reader's eye to that part of the cover. Also the photograph of one of the college's students makes the reader want to read on as it could be a friend of theirs or just someone they know.

Band Photograph: The band photograph has been photoshopped to give it a physcadelic look as teenagers nowadays like different colours. This band looks like a typical local band and as answered in the questionnaire, the text near the photograph states that there will be a local gig review for this band.

Lighting: The lighting for the student inside the star was just ordinary sun light from opened windows and also lights that were on the celling but the band photo was taken in a room where there were no windows so for that photograph, over head lighting was used.

Composition: The composition of the image is quite smooth with slanted texts and a smooth glow around the main image but the star in the image is the only sharp and rough side to the image.

Technical Code

Camera Angle: The camera angles in these images are both straight on to ensure that the viewers get maximum viewing of the images.

Shot Angles: I have mainly used medium close ups and close ups in my images.

Focal Point: The focal point of the cover is the band as that is the larger image and the most colourful image.

I think that my cover is perfect for my target audience as it covers all of the areas that were answered in the questionnaire. The student on the front will attract other students as they will want to hear latest gossip and news around the college. Bands are attractive to students as gigs provide a great night out and also somewhere to socialise with friends.
